Lyle's Birthday Weekend

Lyle is now officially 28! The poor guy has had to put up with a lot of joking from me about his old age. But true to his amazingness, he just laughed and joked along with me.

His birthday was on the 19th and I had the whole weekend off. We spent most of the day at the tulip festival. Despite the rain and mud, we had a good time. Then we stopped by PinkaBella cupcakes to get his birthday cupcakes and went to a new Gyro place for dinner.

You may have seen these pictures on Facebook already, but I love them, so here they are again!

The next day we headed down to Seattle to visit Pike Place. We wanted to get some fruit and fish. Lyle and I love Pike Place and we visit whenever we get a chance. Sorry there aren't any pictures, we headed down there in the afternoon and it was nearly impossible to get a picture of anything exciting. 

After wandering around, we headed down to pier 55 for our Tillicum Village cruze. The boat took us on a 45 minute ride to Blake Island. 

We were greeted with a mug of freshly steamed clams in nectar.... and we were allowed (even invited) to toss the shells on the ground and smash them.... You can see all of the shell pieces on the ground. 

  

 

They demonstrate the Native American traditional method for cooking Salmon and we were treated to a full meal, including the Salmon (yum!). There was also a show that explained some of the Native American History of the area.

Blake Island is protected land and the only resident is the ranger. These deer were just roaming freely. 

On the ride back home, we were treated to the great Seattle Skyline at night. My favorite part about living in this area!

Congratulations, Lyle!

I am really hugely immensely proud of Lyle. If you are his friend on Facebook, you will have seen his status update about his new job. When we moved out to the Seattle area 7 months ago, I would not have anticipated this change. However, Lyle is now the Director of Operations for theory11. theory11 sells magic tricks, playing cards, and various other magic related things and Lyle has been working part-time for them for a while now. After years of working 2 jobs (60+ hours a week), he couldn't be more thrilled with the prospect of one 40 hr a week job and I couldn't be more proud of my awesome husband.

This job offer is a pretty big deal, considering that he has never seen his boss in person and the company approached him with the offer. While I make fun of the fact that he has "Magic Friends" that live in his computer, it's basically the truth. He has only met one person from the company (the computer wizard that makes their website work). Lyle has worked hard and long to become an asset to the company and prove his worth, and I am so impressed with his dedication.

Not only is his new position fully online (I'm so jealous that he gets to work from home!!!!), but they are also flying him out to Charleston, SC in a week to meet his boss and the other team members. They have already assured him that they will be playing paintball (and probably a lot of other fun things). While there will be a lot of hard work involved, he is going to be like a kid in a candy store. He loves the industry and is so excited.

Congratulations, Lyle! I am so proud of you! Thanks for being such an amazing man!
